REVVIM LAUNCHES PAGE2 NEAR DUPLICATE CONTENT DETECTION CAPABILITY
Santa Clara, CA. October 29, 2013 – Revvim.com is setting another new standard in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technology with its ability to detect near-duplicate pages. Page2 (pronounced “page squared”) flags pairs of pages containing near-duplicate content and provides filtering based on the percent of content that is duplicated between them. The technology uses a natural language processing analysis technique known as shingling that then employs the Jaccard coefficient to measure similarities in two sets of pages, comparing every page to every other page on a website, and reporting the percentage of duplicative content.
“Revvim has always focused on actionable data and Page2 is no exception”, stated Matt LeBaron, Revvim’s chief executive officer. “With Page2 we not only identify the percentage of content that is duplicated, but we also employ our patented algorithm to determine the best canonical page based on revenue, traffic, and rank”, added LeBaron.
Duplicate content is a key issue for many large websites because: it can confuse the search engines as to what page is the best page; deliver a less than desirable search result to the user; waste the allocated crawl budget resulting in a loss of pages in Google and Bing indices; and result in a loss of link authority.
Specifically a site with two similar pages is requiring that the search engine determine which of the two pages is, in fact, the best page. Because search engines use historic rank as a key factor in determining which page is the best page the user could well be served an older out-of-date page when a newer similar page would be the site’s preferred page. The enormous scope of the task of crawling and indexing the entire World Wide Web further compounds the issue. It takes significant computing resources to crawl the WWW, so when the search engines encounter a website with a lot of near duplicate content they may choose to use their resources somewhere else, like on indexing unique pages on a competitors’ sites.
Additionally, Google and Bing allocate a finite amount of resources to crawling a site, referred to as a “crawl budget”, and duplicate content wastes that budget on similar pages costing the site the ability to get other good pages indexed and showing in the search engines. Then consider the loss of link authority, each duplicate URL may have some links associated with it, but it is diluted over multiple pages and neither page receives the full value of the links to that content thereby reducing the authority of both pages.
Revvim’s unique technology is based on an algorithm that maximizes organic search revenue from a given set of keywords for a specific domain. By performing a detailed analysis of all major search engines, the website, and third party data, including Google Analytics, Revvim is able to provide a specific list of actionable tasks for key page elements for every indexed page on a site. Revvim delivers a complete review across the website including: urls, title tags, h1 tags, meta tags, link anchor text and link title attributes. Revvim shows what should be done to improve page ranking, grow traffic, and increase SEO revenue. It identifies which keywords are actually converting best for revenue, from there it determines which pages to optimize for those keywords and exactly what to do to optimize those pages. Revvim’s holistic approach maximizes SEO revenue across an entire site. Revvim.com is the first Search Engine Optimization (SEO) technology solution to focus on revenue, not just traffic. It enables website marketers and small business executives to rapidly improve their SEO efforts and deliver provable ROI. Organic or free search has always been known for generating the most qualified leads. 94% of all search-engine clicks on websites come from organic search traffic, yet companies are only spending 12% of their budget to drive organic traffic. Until Revvim, it was hard to impact organic search and even harder to correlate the results to a specific effort. Revvim’s patented technology not only shows how to improve natural search results, it tracks the effort, and shows a clear ROI. The service is fully scalable and supports hundreds of thousands of keywords, but Revvim is simple enough for a small business owner to use. Revvim is a privately held company based in Santa Clara, California. For more information contact: Marcel Mendoza 408.637.1067
